September 21-30, 2017, Joan McBride performed The Belle of Amherst, and through the magic of theatre, American poet Emily Dickinson’s revolutionary and poetic voice was brought to life as she welcomed the audience into her mid-19th century Amherst Massachusetts home.
Audiences loved the play. Said one theatre goer: “words like astonishing and mesmerizing have been heard in describing Joan McBride’s character portrayal of Emily Dickinson. Some might say genius…..an excellent word upon which hang one’s hat! From direction, to set design, to costume creation, to lighting, to audio, to stage management, to production and promotion, and to vision, dedication, and commitment, not a nuance or sensitivity was missed.”
On this website the blog tells the story of the production. Will there be another? We dwell in possibility.
